Maybe it's just blatant marketing, personally I think I'd like to see a big publishing house, with a certain type of author try this. A second edition maybe – similar to a DVD style directors cut or movie out takes

I know my novel had five different endings, deleted chapters etc. There are things I've typed and then thought, 'I can't write that, that's disgusting!' I know personally, I didn't spot that I'd written.

“Yeah, I know you think the Bristols can lead you on to better things, but did you ever wonder how they got so big?”

SHAME !

Changed to:- “Don't get too involved, Claire and her sister warrant further investigation, somebody is pulling their strings.”

Adele West (Delly) always moaning her parents were never there for her. Every time she had a problem, her mother (Natalie) tried to solve it by sending her money. I spotted that one too late, it required too many adjustments. I had to write it back in as an intended irony.

If you missed it (as I originally did) it makes her mother's name Nat West.

Wouldn't you like to see what your favourite author deleted or adjusted, and know why? Wouldn't this make you a better writer?

Come on! Wouldn't you want to have a heart to heart with Terry Pratchet's delete key?

This is a nice idea. For my novel 'University of Death', I included a series of deleted scenes at the end as well as bonus content including 100+ bands names I created during my research for the book. I think it helps ease people out of a book, and also means that good ideas that have no value outside the context of that novel can still be shared. There's a good reason why some stuff is deleted though, so I think you need to be selective with what's published all the same.
